Botox by Dr. Shannon

The College of Dental Surgeons of BC has recently included botox as part of the scope of practice of dentistry in BC. Dr Shannon is proud to offer botox Cosmetic, a quick and inexpensive option for facial rejuvenation. One of the most popular cosmetic treatments available, botox Cosmetic is an injection made of botulinum toxin that works to relax muscle tissue and smooth out facial skin.

During the procedure, Dr. Shannon will have you contract your facial muscles to determine where the first botox injection should be placed. After consultation with you he will then use a fine needle to inject small amounts of botox Cosmetic into the various facial muscles. botox injections block the chemical signals that allow muscles to contract. Because the inactive muscles cannot tighten, skin relaxes and smoothes out, resulting in the appearance of fewer lines and wrinkles. The treatment is relatively painless, so no anesthesia is usually needed. botox injection treatment typically lasts no longer than 30 minutes.
